YANKEES VS METS : RF

Bobby Abreu's power is declining rapidly year after year. Once upon a time Abreu could be relied upon for a solid 30 Homers and be right around the century mark in the RBI department with around 30 stolen bases.A fantasy baseball owners dream come true.
Now, Abreu smacks around 15 dingers but still can be relied upon for the 100 RBIs (Even though That number is tainted, any decent hitter in the middle of the Yankee lineup should drive in at least 80)
Most importantly, Bobby maintains his above average on base percentage which gives him an edge over many hitters.
Defensively, Abreu definitely has his issues. Every time he comes close to a wall or player he shys away like a girl, but his arm is still among the league best.
Overall, Abreu is still one of the elite right fielders in the game . Home run power or not.
I'll tell you one more thing. Being on a walk year is definitely not going to hurt him.
---------------------------------------------------------
THE METS SIDE OF RF..THE METS STARTING RIGHT FIELDER IS RYAN CHURCH..in his career ryan has never had 500 ab's in a season..least year he had a career high in ab's with 470... and batted .272 with 15 hr and 70 rbinot the greatest numbers...but one thing to remember is that he was playing in the biggest ballpark known to mankind in washington...a place where u have to hit the ball 400 ft down the right field line for a homer...unlike yankee stadium (294 ft)...which shows when u account for his 43 doubles..with RISP lat yr he batted .282ryan doesnt have much to pick from he has only had one full season in the bigs...but many sports columnists, fantasy "experts" and espn anchors are calling him a sleeper this year...i dont know what it is about guys like this...but minaya has been known to get guys like this and they end up having good years...so i am skeptical to see what church can do...

OUTCOME
-------------
First Base -Mets
Second Base- Yankees
Short Stop- Reluctantly Yankees but very skeptical ( Jeter will probably have the better year but Reyes has the potential to be GREAT. )
Third Base- Yankees without question
Catcher- Yankees (Yanks win this in a laugher)
Center Field- Mets (In a landslide)
Right Field-Yankees (Church is unproven and Abreu is on his walk year)

METS VS YANKEES: CF

OK, while i bathe in the LA sun and try to type using the smallest keyboard in the history of mankind...here is the Mets side.....

we'll start with the best outfielder in NY...

Carlos Beltran - after putting up great numbers in 06... 41 hr 116 RBI less than100 k and 95BB

and then in a down yr in 07 33 hr112 RBI...

ever since he has been in NY he has been expected to be 50 hr 130 RBI 40 Sb and 315 avg...i believe that is why he gets a bad rap around MLB...he is still one of the best cf in baseball..he is 30 yrs old...right in his prime.....and defensively is vastly underrated...myself included...people don't understand how many balls this guy gets...

he just got his knees scoped hopefully this will put away any pain he had in the past and he can put up 30+ sb this yr...

one interesting note...

Last yr when batting 4Th in 44 games his stats were: 310 avg 13hr 45RBI 8Sb 619 SLG and 1.006 OPS

So since willie put him in the 4 slot he turned it around...so with a full yr at the 4 spot his numbers should look allot better than they did last yr...

---------------------------------------------------------------

The New York Yankee situation in Center field is none to brag about. Although Melky every now and then opens some eyes with his arm in the outfield and he does come up with some clutch defensive plays, but his routes to fly balls are very shaky more times than not.

Cabrera's numbers are nowhere near where a center fielders numbers should be. I have been hearing that he is being compared to a young Bernie, all I have to say is IN YOUR DREAMS. The best year I foresee for Melky is a 315 avg 24 Hr with 85 RBI's and I'm being Generous. I think the only purpose of Melky is to be a decent stopgap until A-JAX.
The Mets win this one hands down.
