Instant Replay?

Recently the general managers voted 25 to 5 in favor of instant replay.Personally I hate the idea of a computer determining the outcome of a baseball game not only does it tarnish the sacred game of baseball .In my and every other Yankee fans opinion it hurts the Yankees tremendously. Whenever the Yankees won in the late ninety's etc.. in almost every series they won they received a little help from miss calls from the umpires. Call it luck call it mystique call it help from the baseball g-ds.Call what you want but whenever the Yankees won something along those lines happened. If Major League Baseball incorporates instant replay it removes that element of the game. And in some ways it modernizes baseball in a tacky sort of way. I just cant put my finger on it but it rubs me the wrong way.

I'm sure all the mets fans will be pro it and my fellow Yankee fans will be for it but i could be wrong.

THE CRUSHIN RUSSIAN

Kevin Kouzmanoff

The Padres have a third base prospect by the name of Chase Headley who may make Kevin Kouzmanoff a trading chip this off-season. If im the yankees i desperatley pursue him.
Would the Padres be interested in a package of Alan Horne, Kyle Farnsworth, Brett Gardner and a ton of cash (to pay for Farnsworth) in exchange for Kouzmanoff?
Maybe, or, maybe not? But, if the Yankees proposed a deal like that the Padres wouldnt see it as an insult - it would be a way to get negotiations going
Kevin Kouzmanoff will be turning 26-years old. He bats right and has pop. I understand that his defense at third is not great - but, he's not terrible either. The Yankees could do a lot worse at the hot corner next year than Kouzmanoff.
Maybe, instead of Alan Horne, Kyle Farnsworth, Brett Gardner and cash, it would cost the Yankees Tyler Clippard, Kyle Farnsworth, Josue Calzado, and cash for Kouzmanoff? If I'm the Yankees, I would have to consider that one too.
Heck, I'd even throw in Kei Igawa for free!
But, I'm not the G.M. of the team. It's up to Brian Cashman to try and work out these types of deals. The question is: Will he?
If im the yanks and im not getting Cabrera or Beltre Then I Definatley pursue this.
Exerps of this post was from waswatching.com Thanx

Were the yankees sleeping?

Phillies acquire Lidge in five-player trade
Phillies acquire RHP Brad Lidge and infielder Eric Bruntlett from the Astros for outfielder Michael Bourn, RHP Geoff Geary and third baseman Mike Costanzo.
We're not at all impressed with Ed Wade's first move as Houston's GM. Bourn could have a long career as a fair regular, but he's basically another Willy Taveras for the Astros. If Lidge's arrival in Philadelphia results in Brett Myers' return to the rotation, this could be a big winner for Pat Gillick. Geary is an average middle reliever and Costanzo's a long shot to have a career, so this basically boils down to Lidge for Bourn. Lidge is only under control for one more year, so it's not a huge slam dunk. Still, turning Myers back into a starter gives the Phillies a bigger rotation upgrade than they possibly could have picked up in free agency. Nov. 7 - 10:56 pm et

If Brad lidge was available for a deal that involved a 4th OF a middle of the line reliever and and a marginal prospect. Why the hell didnt the yankees make a push for him? This is an area where they need to improve and lidge would have turned the yankee bulpen to a dominant one.

I'll tell you one thing At least the mets get screwed.

Arbitration-Rod

I stole this from MLBTRADERUMORS.COM.

I Thought you might enjoy it.

Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus tell us not to expect the Yankees to offer arbitration with Alex Rodriguez and Scott Boras. However, Brian Cashman told Joel Sherman "of course" the Yankees would offer it, because of the two draft picks involved.
Sherman notes that there's a "very slim possibility" of Rodriguez accepting, and then getting a $30-40MM one-year contract as a result of the hearing. He adds that A-Rod would lose his no-trade clause in this scenario. This would be a great scenario for the Yankees. Rodriguez on any kind of one-year commitment is a sweet deal, and he'd be very trade-able. One year, $40MM is a lot easier to stomach for any team than 10 years, $300MM.
If they do offer arbitration and A-Rod declines (the most likely scenario), the Yankees will hope for one of the teams picking 16th-30th in next June's draft to sign him. That could be the Cubs, Tigers, Mets, Angels, or Red Sox. In those cases the Yankees get that team's first-round pick. On the flip side, it would not be preferred if the Dodgers, Giants, or any other team picking 1st-15th signs him. Those picks are protected.
Interesting A-Rod side note: one GM surveyed by Jerry Crasnick predicted A-Rod would end up with the Orioles.

Dont worry about Andy, he's no Arod

Recently Andy pettitte has declined his option for the 08 campaign. Yankee fans have nothing to worry about. He reiterated the fact that If he isn't coming back to NY then hes retiring. He said that all he needs is a little more time to decide if he has what it takes to put his body through the wear and tear of a full season.Last year he was in the same position and he came back. Lets just hope that the departure of Torre doesn't effect his decision.

The Backup catcher

Usually the backup catcher is an afterthought. Whoever the Yankees pick up everybody just seems to swallow the pill. Whether its will Nieves or Sal Fasano or John flarity, Tod Greene . The list goes on and on. Theres no reason for this. If your payroll year in and year out is going to be at the 200 million dollar mark Then every spot on your roster better be the best money can buy. In this case the Yankees should be targeting guys like Greg zaun or Jason Laure Or even Mike piazza (let him play a little first a little DH and catch once a week.)There are guys out there that would do SO much better than what they have been getting out of that position.Which is close to nothing. No offense to Jose Molina but in my books that's not good enough. Maybe for any other team but the yanx especially for the amount of money they spend.

Crede In Pinstripes??

Buster onley is reporting that the yankees and the white sox are in serious conversations about a trade that has Damon going to chi-town for Joe crede who would man 3rd base for the yanx.
Crede is coming off back surgery and we all know hes no arod. But he is a wizard in the field and he has 30 hr potential.(btw if you check one of my old posts i mentioned crede's name before anybody so ha.)Im not thrilled about this trade but He already won a title for the white sox so he has experience and he fits the joe girardi bill.Hes a gritty S.O.B which makes him an instant fan favorite.(whoever would be replacing arod would be a fan fav)They could find a better guy than crede but then again they could find a guy allot worse. But if there is any possible way to get Miguel cabrera you got to go for it because he is a long term option and crede is just a stopgap.

The importance of the 4th outfielder

Damon would fill that role perfectly. But I dont think that he would be ok with that,He is going to want to get at least 500 at bats. and with the yanx picking up abreu's option there is a log jam in the outfield. I am assuming that the yanx are going to trade either melky , abreu or damon in any kind of deal. Once we do that They probably would sign one of the free agent center fielders.
Then we need a 4th outfielder type of guy on the bench if A-JAX or Brett Gardner isnt ready then maybe the yanx should consider bringing somebody like Corey Paterson or somebody like that.

Miguel cabrera and johan santana

Rumors are rumbling in the Bronx. yankee sources are reporting that the yankees are expressing interest in johan and cabrera. In order to get these players the yanx would have to give up a kings ransom. But out of all teams the yanx deffinatley have the chips to swing those deals.without giving up joba and hughes. For johan the yanx could easily package the likes of kennedy melky and tobata and minisota would for sure consider that. and for cabrera we could package something like A-jax, gardner and ohlendorf or whoever they want and they also would consider. If they would ask for joba or hughes we definatley must consider in the the johan deal for sure.
The difference between the yanx and the bosox the past couple of years is josh beckett thats why we must get johan. its a must. at all costs.

Arod has no class

Recently buster olney reported that arod said the only way he would negotiate with the yankees is if the yankees would give him a 350 milloin dollar extension. Is this guy for real??is he mental?? by him saying that it shows he had no intention on coming back he wanted to slap them in the face with that asking price. This guy just makes me sicker and sicker every day. I know its not nice to route against somebody and its not the right way to wish somebody does bad. But hes making it too easy for me to hate him.
