SHOW UP or BLOW UP

As you get excited about the Yankees 2 game sweep of the Rays at THE stadium, I warn you sit back down and prepare for a long journey ahead of us. With 71 games left, the streaky Bronx Bombers have plenty of time left to play with your emotions, while twisting and turning your heart in all sorts of directions.

Is it possible that the Yankees use this series as a springboard to launch them into the race for the division crown (as they did last year right before the all-star break)? YES. Is it likely? I'm not so sure.
The Yankees currently have: Matsui, Damon, Hughes, Bruney, and Wang on the DL; IPK somewhere in the minors; Posada who can't catch on consecutive days (he has been the DH for the past 3 games forcing Molina's horrible bat into the lineup); Brett Gardner and Melky in their lineup that flat-out CAN'T HIT A LICK; an aging Jeter and Abreu posting wayyy below career stats; a 1B that believes his mustache and a thong bring him good luck; and the only $30 Million Man with a divorce hanging over his head . Now with all that stacked up against them, I believe its pretty remarkable that they are still this close to the ML leading RAYS.

Unless the Yankees find ponce de leon's fountain of youth, it will be extremely hard for them to overcome these injuries and the ineffectiveness of certain players.

Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, there is still plenty of time for the Yankees to SHOW UP (i.e. the 2007 rockies) or BLOW UP (i.e. 2007 METS)

Here's to finishing on top and not on the bottom!

welcome back to the sam i am sports blog. this gohst is good. that was one hell of a blog. continuing in sam i am footsteps. only sam would have found a cartoon picture of all the injured yanks laying in a hospital bed.

Any way before i even comment on the post the mets winning 9 in a row is something i dont think anyone could have predicted. their pitching has been lights out. if pelfrey and perez can keep pithing into the 6 and 7th inn the bullpen will not be over worked and they can be a legitamite contender like the 06 cardinals.

to the yanks. the injuries to the position players ofcourse hurts and i know they have been very steaky offensively. but for some reason or another i think there offense will hit for the most part in the second half. i know having molina in the line up hurts but i just think that look the mets have schneider and the pitcher in the line up. if 1 thru 6 do there job they should be fine that is for the yanks and mets.
the yankees pitching is what scares me. A lot of ??? marks.
1. can moose keep this up
2. is pettite going to step it up or does he really miss the HGH
3. WILL WANG come back to help the team
4 joba is great but will he start going deep into games and will the team ever hit for him when he is on the mound

ok before i comment on your post i would like every one to know that i am headed to the home run derby with mr caps lock man in about an hour.

this past friday my team came back from a 2 to 0 deficit and won the world series 3 games to 2. yesterday my team won in a big baseball tournament and tonight i am going to the derby. Thank G-d its been a good weekend.things have been going well, Hey maybe i will meet the girl of my dreams this week.

about the yankees i get a good feeling they will rally in the second half to get into the play offs. my reasoning is simply bec they do it every year. until they dont do it i will never doubt them.
