Mariano Rivera's friend has told the Bergen record that Mo has agreed to the 3 year 45 million dollar offer that was offered to him last week.
It was insulting that he didn't jump on this deal as soon as the contract was in front of his face.
I mean come on...its not like they low balled him.They offered the richest contract a relief pitcher has ever seen.(dollars per year)I guess his ego took a hit when he saw the yanks took more priority in signing Posada. Mariano just couldn't face that fact.
people may think that once he realized that nobody was even going to come close to even try to begin to match that astronomical contract,he decided to reluctantly take the offer.
I disagree, I feel that Mariano in the heat of the moment was a little embarrassed so he acted the way he did.But like all rational people do,before making a stupid decision (like going to the dodgers)he realized that new york is the only place he can call home.Hes no idiot he knows what he means in yankee history.He knows he means as much to this organization as mantle and marris etc...what a differance it would have been if he went to a different club than staying with what made him what he is.

my theory on arod is that last week when the mitchell report interviewed 10 free agents he was one of them and he knew his name would come out in the report so he signed quickly with the only team that would sign him quickly before the report comes out and that is the yankees
one more thing its a little suspicious that the bergen record keeps getting these "controversial" or big yankee stories...first started with the boss and a reporter getting in touch with him when its nearly impossible to find him and he said about torre "win or go home"...and now with rivera and his "friend" saying the deal is done....
INTERESTING SUSPICION ON A-ROD BUT I DONT THINK THAT WAS THE CASE. I THINK EVERYONE IN BASEBALL CAN AGREE THAT A-ROD IS THE HARDEST WORKING PLAYER IN THE GAME. I REMEMBER LAST YEAR THEY WERE INTERVIEWING I BELIEVE IT WAS EITHER JASON VARITEK OR MAYBE BIG PAPI AND THEY BROUGHT UP A-ROD AND HE SAID THAT GUYS REALLY WORKS HARD HE IS UP EVERY MORNING EARLY WORKING OUT AND STAYING FIT AND WORKING ON HIS GAME. SO IF YOU HEAR THAT COMING FROM BOSTON IT GOES TO SHOW THAT PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE IN BASEBALL RECOGNIZES THIS GUY IS A REAL HARD WORKER. ASIDE FROM THE FACT THAT HE LOST WEIGHT COMING INTO THIS YEAR. THE ONLY THING THAT GREW BIGGER IS HIS HEAD BUT THATS NOT PHYSICALLY ITS EGOTISTICALLY.

by the way i had a great time last night and the veil cutlets were delicious. and those belly dancers unbeleivable. Max n did you get her number.
Just to talk about sports a little i dont like the castilla signing for the mets. not terrible but dont love it. Thank g-d Glavine is gone. whether good for the team or not i personally had enough of him. i think we can all agree he was never really a true met. we tried to make it like he was for a while but it never really worked. He had one good start in the play offs against st louis but then got hit hard in the same series. Who could forget the last game of this year. The yankees helped the mets tremendously with the way they ended the year. it over shadowed the mets disaster.
glavines kids were at his press conference in atlanta and they are mad at tom for leaving ny to go to atlanta becuz they are huge fans of wright and reyes
the mets get the braves' first round pick in the draft because they signed glavine. It's the 15th overall pick. this is great news for the mets
and the mets get a complimentary pick in the 1st round(these are pick after the original 30 picks)
