If this happens Im going to be sick

Alex Rodriguez-3B- Yankees
Nov. 14 - 4:25 pm et
Alex Rodriguez confirmed on his website that he's hopeful of remaining with the Yankees.
"After spending time with (wife) Cynthia and my family over these last few weeks, it became clear to me that I needed to make an attempt to engage the Yankees regarding my future with the organization," A-Rod says in a statement. "Prior to entering into serious negotiations with other clubs, I wanted the opportunity to share my thoughts directly with Yankees' ownership. We know there are other opportunities for us, but Cynthia and I have a foundation with the club that has brought us comfort, stability and happiness. As a result, I reached out to the Yankees through mutual friends and conveyed that message. ... During these healthy discussions, both sides were able to share honest feelings and hopes with one another, and we expect to continue this dialogue with the Yankees over the next few days." So, A-Rod wants this and all indications are that the Yankees do as well. This might be wrapped up by the end of the week.

If this happens I'm going to be sick. I officially burned bridges with arod. if he comes back i will not route for him.I will not feel bad for him. If he helps the organization the team that would be great but until he wins us a title Arod is a dog in my books

F A-ROD!!!

Avi said...

i can't take this. can you imagine a guy going 0-18 with runners in scoring position in the postseason? or better yet 17 consecutive playoff games WITHOUT AN RBI!! it's MIND BLOWING! if a crap hitter say for example Reed Johnson had those at bats would he not have done better?

Avi said...

You can't have the focal point of your offense fold on you every time he gets in the batters box in the postseason. He's the guy that they all rely on and has delivered all season long and when he comes up empty it has to be deflating to the whole team. The yankees made the playoffs without A-rotten. We can find other hitters that will make up most of the offense lost when a-rod is gone and still have enough offense to make the playoffs CONSISTENTLY. The difference is those hitters MIGHT actually hit when the pressure is on unlike A-DOG. and for those of you that think he's gonna change and have a huge postseason one of these years you're WRONG. He doesn't have it in him. It's not part of his personality. He will always tighten up and be too perfectionistic and not natural in the big spot. MIGUEL CABRERA PLEASE!!!!!

Avi said...

by the way... I wouldn't mind seeing chubby Miggy (cabrera that is) at first base. WOW - now you're talking. Hughes, Melky and olendorf make sure you bring sunscreen.
now imagine that lineup - sheesh!
don't give up on johan or peavy either pls.

I am pumped that he might come back. You guys are all nuts. The best player in the universe is staying on your team and you complain. Don't get it. Any fan of any team in the world would go crazy if their team signed arod. Please.

Avi said...

he is the biggest reason the last 4 years have been a disaster. If you think otherwise you haven't been watching the playoffs. I think he is the most talented player of all time. I don't think mantle, dimaggio, or even ruth could do what a-rod is doing. but it comes down to his inability to relax and be himself in pressure situations. He clearly has a big issue with it.

abie said...

of all people jon sterling confirmed today on the michael kay show that the deal is done and arod is a yankee

Avi said...

since the inception of YES netwok the yankees have become much more of a business enterprise than a baseball organazation. They base their personel desicions as such. A-rod brings people to the park - 4 million plus 2 years in a row. a number that was never attained pre A-DOG era. He sells more yankee junk. and most importantly he brings more eyeballs to the TV set. in other words arod represents one thing... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$, and that's all that matters. Even if he goes 0-100 with runners in scoring position in the postseason. If you're making baseball decision only you don't bring a-rod back. Signing giambi after the 01 season when the yanks had (nick johnson ready to take over at first) was the first YES network influenced move.

This is great for the team. Arod is not the reason they lost in the playoffs last season. you can even say that he improved upon previous post-seasons. if it weren't for Arod they would have never even been in the playoffs. You have to look at Wang and the rest of the string of bad luck. Signing him would allow us to keep our prospects.
He's gonna end up making the same $$ he would have been if he hadn't opted out in the first place. What's the difference?
He did not ruin the clubhouse chemistry...I think we can all admit that.
You can say he is not a proven winner and that as long as he is on the team they will not win. I disagree with that because that would be true on any other team because of the % of payroll he would consume and limit the rest of the team. that doesn't happen with the yanks because they are taking care of everyone. With the signing of Mo, and some major relief help, the yanks will be on their way to the ship next season (assuming bugs are not in the picture.)
Sam, any updated response?
Abe, what do you think of Yorvit!!!

SAM I AM said...

You make good points but he still is a hard guy to route for after what took place. i cant see you arguing with that

the money thing is not true cause Texas was paying a huge chunk

i agree this saves our prospects for maybe Johan and that's a positive thing.

by saying he improved upon previous post seasons is embarrassing for arod cause after going 0 for the century anything is an improvement

I hope all goes well and they win with him him and i know you cant blame one guy for the playoffs. but when your the go to guy in the regular season then in the playoffs you shrink its definitely deflating to the team so an individual guy does impact a post season series

abie said...

maybe the thinking of the yankees is he can help us win in the regular season especially with the redsox in your own division and then u can try and win with ur pitching(wang,hughes,jaba,kennedy)...that u now dont have to trade for cabrera....so u can win in the postseason just despite him....and im sure that a team has won the world series with their "regular-season slugger" slumping in the playoffs

abie said...

and thank you sam for taking off anonymous comments

abie said...

reluctant to ask this but...whats worse the mets collapse of 07 or the yankees going back on their word and signing arod?

Unknown said...

Torrealba is a disaster. But I can't believe the mets got Castro so cheap- 2 mill each year!!! He can hit over 10- 15 homers in 80 games

By the way everyone I already threw away my Arod Jersey- gotta buy a new one now. Love the guy no matter what he does did or will do. HE IS THE BEST PLAYER ON THE PLANET.PERIOD.

abie said...

will arod be booed or cheered on opening day?

SAM I AM said...

It all depends on his press confrence.

MSR said...

i'm going to cheer him.
Reports are that the yanks approached Mike Lowell in considering him as their 1st baseman. This is craaaaazzzzzzyyyyy!!

SAM I AM said...

Lowell for 1st base???? that could be decent as long as he only get a 3 year deal

abie said...

why waste lowell's great defense... make arod ur ss and lowell to 3rd and move jeter to 2nd and cano to 1st...and i dont think the yanks will sign lowell once arod is signed

maxsutton said...

Hi Guys i missed not being a part of this and its great to be back. Since i have gone a lot has happenned and i am shocked. Arod back this is just comical. i am glad to see sam and avi didnt go back on there word and still call him Adog and curse him. Its going to be very interesting to see how the fans on a whole are going to treat him.
The one thing i was a little confused by is why are the yanx giving him so much. its obvious there wasnt such a market out there. they could have offered 250 million and they would not look stupid now they went back on there word and texas is paying NOTHING.
The mets getting torealba i dont really love but i have to see the positive and say he is an upgrade to what loduca was. my 3 year old son can throw the ball better then loduca and i am really not joking about that. Now they will probably give castro more playing time. whenever he plays he produces.
The Mets should offer mariano the 4rth year. i know the yanx would match it and get him but at least it would show they are trying to do the right thing. Screw wagner he did nothing as a met and he knows it. let him be the set up man. it wont happen but it was worth the thought.
Anyway its nice to have Avi finally on the site. I am sure you regret not poisaning Arods drink when you hung out with him in Seattle. Because you didnt do that you are stuck with his crappy post seasons and abe seruyas craziness for 10 more years.
But remember the reason the yankees havent been winning it all was because Mattingly was in uniform. now that he is gone the jinx left with him.
Avi you bring up great points and its hard to argue and i would of loved him on the mets and he would have been loved by all the fans of the mets. So if you think about it he should of went to the mets. Now he has enemies on his own side. i bet he could have gotten a pretty good contract with the mets and he wouldnt have to move his homeplace. i have a lot more to say but i have to go.
Last thing Max Nesser i have a really good girl for you. no kidding. so stop partying in the night clubs having one different girl friends every week and call me. bottom line Arod Back nobody knows if its good or not. bec he is great but sucks all at the same time i dont know what that means but somehow it makes sense.

Sam is it true your wedding is this weekend. i heard you got a world renowned cantor. you still have a couple of days to back out
Make sure you are doing the right thing. Are all blog members invited if that is so. Where is the wedding and what time is it starting. is there going to be booze? And i heard moracan belly dancers are performing at the end of the ceromony i am sure if we all are invited the anonymous writers will come reveal themselves to all of us. that might be worth the whole thing

SAM I AM said...

Max its good tohave you back. your post made up the last two weeks .
and i know it must have taken you about a half hour to type it.

arod is the worst best player in baseball of all time.

jackie definatley throws better than loduca. and i hearsd max nesser just got mono from all of the girls hes been with latley. keep your pants on max n. (just kidding about the mono but the girl thing is true.Mariano is not nice that he didnt accept. the yanx offered him a more than acceptable deal. hes got balls to ask for a 4th year.
castro still wont get the at bats he deserves and yorvit sucks pretty bad so go figure.

SAM I AM said...

Who told you about my wedding????

abie said...

I WANT AROD ON THE METS NOW!!!!!!

RALPH said...

I GOTTA AGREE WITH SAMMY ON THIS ONE.I DONT CARE HOW GOOD A-ROD IS ITS HARD TO ROUTE FOR THIS GUY. HE STRAIGHT OUT CANT HIT WHEN THERE IS ANY PRESSURE. IT TOOK HIM HOW LONG BEFORE HE HIT 500 AND ONCE PLAYOFFS START HE CANT BUY A HIT. HE JUST CANT DO IT, ASIDE FROM THE GAME ISSUES HE HAS HES A MONEY HUNGRY GUY HE DOESNT HAVE A HEART FOR THE TEAM CAUSE IF HE DID HE WOULDNT HAVE OPTED OUT BUT BY DOING THAT AFTER HAVING THE FANS WARM UP TO HIM EVEN THOUGH HES BEEN SO BAD IN CLUTCH SITUATIONS GETTING PAID ALL KINDS OF MONEY... I DUNNO ITS ALMOST LIKE WHAT THE ROCKET DID IN A WAY WHERE HE RETIRED AND WOULDNT COME BACK TO THE YANKS THEY GIVE HIM A HUMMER AS A CAREER ENDING GIFT AND HE SCREWS EM BY GOING TO PITCH WITH THE ASTROS. ITS JUST NOT SOMETHING TO ADMIRE. NOW IF HE WAS A GUY WITH CLASS AND A HEART AND THE YANKEES WERE SCREWING HIM OVER WITH A DEAL THEY GAVE TO TORRE WHERE HE DESERVES MORE THEN WHAT THE YANKEES OFFERED THEN YOU HAVE A CASE BUT THIS GUY GOT BURNED BEING SELFISH AND IS JUST CRAWLING BACK TO US BECAUSE HE DOESNT WANT TO END UP ON A TEAM WITH A BUNCH OF LOSERS AND BREAK RECORDS ON A CRAPPY TEAM. TO ME A GUY WHO SAYS THAT THERE ARE 24 GUYS AND ME ON A TEAM WHICH IS WHAT HE SAID THATS A GUY I WOULDNT WANT ON MY TEAM THATS A VIRUS THAT I WOULDNT WANT INFECTING THE YOUNG GUYS ON MY TEAM. I THINK WE COULD DO WITHOUT HIM.

I am truly amazed with Max and Sam's fascination with my love life.
Max, your post was so long that it's gotta be a record. and yes- i read every word of it....man, i truly have no life...anyway, The latest news about lowell is that the yanks offered years, 60 million. i think cashman cought senileness from george. That would be the worst contract he'll ever make. I seriously doubt that lowell will ever hit 20 homers in a reall ball park again, look at the hitting charts on mlb.com and you'll see ALL of his fenway homers scraped over the monster. NOT ONE homer to center or right. Lowell will instantly be the worst contract on the yankees. worse than Giambi, Moose, and Damon.
PLEASE BRIAN!!! DON"T DO IT!!!!

by the way i bumped into ralph yesterday ( in deal) and explained to him what a caps lock is. He thought it was a button that locks his baseball caps in his car.
last but not least... I hope Cynthia doesn't mind...in fact I'm sure she doesn't mind... AROD WIll YOU MARRY ME?!!

RALPH said...

NO MAX I THOUGHT IT WAS HOW TO SEAL A SODA BOTTLE...

abie said...

as of now the yankees starting 9 (not including pitcher) is 125 million wow...i wish the mets could do that...maybe we would be samrter with the money but wow.....the mets only have one guy that they are paying more than 12 million and thats carlos beltran....
delgado - 12 million and pedro 11.5 mil

im jealous.....but the mets will probably have more wins then the yankees this year....

RALPH said...

Yankees.com reports Alex Rodriguez and the New York Yankees have reportedly reached agreement on the outline of a 10-year, $275 million contract that will also include additional millions if he sets the career home run record as a member of the Yankees.

THIS IS NOT WHAT I WANTED TO SEE I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO A SEASON OF YOUNG EAGER PLAYERS LOOKING FOR A TITLE NOT FOR MONEY HUNGRY GUYS ONLY WORRYING ABOUT THEIR POCKETS.

Isaac Shalom said...

so as of this morning i think the rumor is that the yankees are going to offer A-rod a 275 Million 10 year deal with alot of incentives if he breaks the home run record!! They say its almost a done deal.. I agree that we do not need a-rod but until we have another 3 baseman i will take him back

SAM I AM said...

welcome canner

maxsutton said...

Hi guys
i am sorry my last blog was so long but i just had a lot to say and had to get it off my chest. this is my outlet unlike max nesser who has his nightlife as his.
i dont disagree with what mariano. Usually i would but after he saw what they did with Arod he isnt wrong. Think about it they told arod we wont talk to you if you opt out AND THEY DID ANYWAY. He won nothing for them and they end up paying him crazy numbers after even after the fans were fine with him not coming back.( bec of his really sucky post seasons).
On the other hand MO only did good HE IS A LEGAND. He feels like he got no respect. so he wants that 4rth year obviasly for the money and he knows he can get it. but only to make a point.

SAM, i am good friends with one of the belly dancers performing at your wedding. She told me about it. But she wouldnt disclose any info about were the wedding is. She said you told them not to let anyone know any details. She did tell me she was very interested in meeting MAX NESSER. She is a party animal herself. so she thinks they could be great for each other. max nesser let me know if you want me to set you guys up.

hi guy

MSR said...

why is everyone so down on Arod. It is clear that he wanted to play for the yanks the whole time, he just wanted to get the most money, raise the bidding, just like any other businessman would. Why do we expect these guys to take a pay cut when the yanks could afford it anyway. I understand that the yanks have all the leverage now and they should have never included the incentive clauses. I don't understand the concept of incentives at this point, for a player such as Arod who's making 27 mill a year and I would assume that's motivation enough. giving him all those bonuses to reach the home run milestones is begging for him to be homer happy and as a result his batting average may suffer and he may get into one of those week long slumps every time another milestone approaches.
Why do we boo? why all the hatred and resentment fellas. Screw all of the off field crap.
Arod is not only a member of this team but he is a very very very important part. When one of our guys is in a slump, you don't boo him. You cheer him and boost his confidence, tell him that he can and will come through when it counts. Negative reinforcement only complicates issues and makes matters worse on the field of play. You have the right to Boo because you are a paying customer, but don't you really want to see greatness and be cheering through October??

can we ring the bells (as in every time a yankee run is scored) after the glass is broken?
