DONT SWEAT IT, WE GOT PETTITTE!!!!!!

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!
According to Houston chronicle Andy pettitte will be pitching for the BOMBERS in the 08 season.

Report: Pettitte to re-sign with Yankees
Andy Pettitte will re-sign with the Yankees, according to the Houston Chronicle.
The newspaper reports that he's "told family members and teammates that he has decided to return to the Yankees in 2008." Unsure of his plans last month, Pettitte declined his $16 million option for 2008 and the Yankees told him that they'd have a spot for him until February if he decided to return. Pettitte's agent is said to have informed the Yankees of the decision to re-sign and the two sides are expected to agree upon the same one-year, $16 million deal that Pettitte was in line to make before declining his option. While Pettitte's return gives a big boost to the Yankees' 2008 rotation, it's unlikely that it'll have any impact on the team's pursuit of Johan Santana. This is tremendous news. Regardless of the fact if they do or do not get Johan , Haren Or Bedard The Yankees rotation will have the presence of a grizzled veteran. Somebody Who's been through it all. The good the bad and the ugly. Hes won us some of the biggest games in Yankees post season history. This is a great day in Yankee land. Andy is Dandy.

These are possible Rotations Based on the fact that they only trade Hughes out of the big 3

#1 (If they get Johan) Santana, Wang, Pettitte, Joba, Kennedy/Mussina

#2 (If they get Haren instead of Johan.) Haren, Pettitte, Wang, Joba, Kennedy/moose

#3 (if they get Bedard Etc...) Bedard, Wang, Pettitte, joba, Kennedy/moose

#4 (if they trade all of the big 3 including Alan Horn and Austin jackson along with Tobata) Johan, Haren, Bedard, Wang, Moose...wow (its never going to happen but im still drooling at the idea of having 800 strike outs in the rotation.)

If they don't make any trades at all. Or any other moves.(extremely Doubtful)

Wang, Pettitte, Joba, Hughes, Kennedy/moose Its not so bad but it definitely needs help. Without Andy we would be in shambles.

getting pettite is tremendous. Even if they dont do anything the way the rotation is set with their lineup they are still a playoff team. but i dont think it will take them to the promise land which is why they will do something.
i personaly dont like moose at all but as a 4th or 5th starter he is more than fine. THE yanx cant let the red sox get johan so they should forget about haren, bedard and do anything to get SANTANA.
Dont get me wrong Haren and bedard are great pitchers. but if the sox have BECKET AND JOHAN for the next 5 years in their rotation then forget about it.

wow sam posts in consecutive days....this allows the yanks to trade hughes and kennedy if need be....they can add moose to the rotation....and btw i think that pedoro after this year (last year of contract) will do the same thing with the mets...his doctor told him that he can pitch for another 4 years (inc. this year)

i'm not sure but I think it was buster olney that said the yanks and redsox were bluffing with their proposals for johan. neither team really wants to give up all those prospects, especially when johan is a free agent after this year, and there is no definite that he will agree to a long term deal now.

With Pettitte back, will the yankees continue to pursue Johan Santana with the same vigorousness?

Are the Sox bluffing just so the yanks will get screwed out of all their prospects?

Do the Sox seriously want JOhan for the price of Elsbury, Lester and Coco?

mike i think we are at a point were everyone is overthinking.
whoever gets him will make sure that they can lock him up for a long time. theo is a very smart gm and he knows how to win. i think he will do whatever to get johan. THe yanks have more so they should get him. if they dont its their mistake.
Petitte is great and he knows how to win but i dont know if he is an ace anymore. he is clutch and in a big game you want him on the mound which is why they should have started him in game one this year in the playoffs. ( and i said that before the playoffs started ask sam)
but again he is getting older and i dont think he is a big time ace. JOHAN.
Are the Mets totally out of it now?

the mets are out of it...the red sox are waiting on the yankees...the return of pettite might make the yankees pull back their offer now that they are not desperate for pitching...the yankees (hank) did violate a rule that u cant talk aloud about other teams players....and now buster olney said on 1050 at 5:00pm that the trade talks are at a stall....and the redsox dont want to give up ellsbury or lester and the only reason they are in it is to get him away from the yankees...and the deadline is fake....the a's told the mets that they are not sure if they have enough..however the orioles do like the mets prospects....jon heyman last night night on mike francesa's show om nbc after sunday night football.. said that a redsox executive told him that we won and will win in october let them win nov and december....mets are interested in livan and are very interested in him.....andrew marchan said he spoke to a twins official and that a deal will not be done by tonight

Wow imagine having the best pitcher and the best position player in the game ON THE SAME TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!

abie said...

reading between the lines both the twins and the marlins dont think that they have to trade johan or cabrera right now...therefore they are looking at teams and stating who they want for johan/cabrera and offering any less for each of them right now will not be enough...if they arent traded by the trade deadline then i believe that the best offer will take him...

So as we all realize that we might not be able to obtain an ace or even a number two pitcher, we might not need to. Maybe Omar just needs to use the model from "06".

Santana isn't the only Twins pitcher available what about going after Nathan while signing Dotel. Heilman can be used in a trade and the team would have flexibility with El Duque. How about a pen of Wagner, Sanchez, Nathan, Feliciano, Dotel, Sosa/El Duque, Schoeneweis.

Improve the depth of the offense with Nady or Mench. Once again tell the staff just keep us in the game, we'll out score them and if we get the ball to the pen the game is ours........

from waswatching.com

Here’s a thought: If the Yankees told the Twins that today is the day to fish or cut bait on Santana, then why is Brian Cashman taking his sweet time to get down to the meetings today? Does this suggest that Cashman is not driving the deal from the Yankees side?

Yeah, I know, he has a cell phone and stuff. But, still, if it really is the 11th hour on these talks, and everyone else is down there already, where’s Brian? Again, unless this whole deal is out of his hands...right?

Think about it - the deadline is midnight and, as of 2 pm, Cash is MIA. Something there is not adding up.

one thing i dont like is that...omar minaya doesnt look comfortable with the media he used to invite the media to interview him but now he looks uneasy and searching for a right answer that won't get him into trouble...especially when asked about his young talent...and whenever he is asked about the milledge deal...he always says "we are a better team now then we were before the deal",he said that line 13 times on the wfan when mike and the maddog interviewed and also by every interview i've heard (about 4) since the deal

abie said...

also interesting is that he asked for a contract extension from the mets about 3 weeks ago and was shut down!

so maybe he feels a little rejected

abie said...

adam rubin has just reported that peter angelos is still mad at the mets for john maine...and the way that he was included in the deal...and what maine has become...so any deal with bedard will have to be overwhelming if the mets want bedard

abie said...

Sandy Johnson, the Mets’ VP of scouting, was named the 2007 Scout of the Year by the Board of Directors of the Scout of the Year Program....

now i dont know if these is a vision of the talent to come or the fernando martinez's and carlos gomez's of the world...i hope it means that there are more guys that they have signed in 07 that will be ready in 2010 and 2011

I READ IN THE POST THIS MORNING THAT JOHAN TOLD MIN. THAT IF THEY DO NOT TRADE HIM BEFORE THE SEASON HE WILL REFUSE TO BE TRADED DURING THE SEASON WHICH MEANS THE TRADE DEADLINE WILL COME AND GO AND HE WILL JUST WAIT OUT THE YR UNTIL FREE AGENCY.

THIS IS GREAT FOR THE YANKS. BECAUSE ALL THEY GOT TO DO IS LEAVE A DECENT OFFER ON THE TABLE AND MOVE ON AND AS SOON AS THE SEASON COMES NEAR IF MIN. HASNT HEARD ANYTHING BETTER (WHICH AS OF NOW WE KNOW THEY DIDNT BECAUSE THE YANKS HAVE MUCH MORE TO OFFER THAN ANY OTHER TEAM) THEY WILL COME BACK TO THE YANKS AND POSSIBLY HAVE TO SETTLE FOR EVEN LESS THEN THE OFFER IS NOW BECAUSE ITS EITHER GET WHAT YOU CAN OR LOSE OUT BECAUSE 100-0 JOHAN WONT BE A TWIN NEXT YR SO THEY ARE GOING TO WANT TO GET WHAT T HEY CAN.

I THINK HANKS DECISION OF THIS DEADLINE IS A GREAT CHOICE. LEAVING THEM WITH THE BEST OFFER THEY HAVE GOTTEN SO FAR AND MOVE ON..THEY WILL COME CRAWLING BACK SOON ENOUGH AFTER HEARING JOHANS STATMENT.

u should sweat it becuz the red sox and twins have exchanged medical reports on johan, lester and coco....so watch out a deal appears very close...

abie said...

i believe that bedard and haren will be traded after santana is dealt becuz the a's and o's will be waiting for the loser of the santana sweepstakes (yanks or red sox) and try to get them involved in either bedard or haren...so let the waiting begin
