If I was the GM

For all you people who think That The baseball season doesent start for another 6 months I couldent disagree with you more.
Hot stove is where it all begins. everybody speculates where everybody is going to end up and how there team should address there problems.
Well If I were Gm this is where I begin. I package Wang and Abreu and any non pitching prospect to the Twins for JOHAN. The yankees would probably have to pay most of abreu's salary but to be honest who the hell cares your getting Johan. This makes sense for Min bec they know santana is going to walk after the season and they mine as well get a stud young pitcher in wang.Abreu would make up for the bat of Hunter,
With that being said the Yanks Desperatley need A right Hand power bat.
After Disscusions with many people I think you got to go after Andrew Jones< It was recently brought to my attention thanks to MAX NESSER (mlbtransactions.com)That on andrews worst possible year He still was if not the same but better than Rowand and Hunter on there career year. Its a no brainer.
Im assuming pettitte will be back, Now the rotation looks like this
1-Johan 2-Joba 3-Pettite 4-Hughes 5-kennedy now thats mouth watering.
granted we need bullpen help even after assuming Mo will be back. which means we go all out for cordero(i think hes available)As for third base this is a very touchy thing. Personally I am interested in a couple of people that nobody seams to be mentioning. Joe Crede (even after back surgery) Morgan ensberg even though hes very inconsistent. These 2 guys have 30 hr power potential and are solid defensivley esspecially Crede. But I wouldent be against Lowell Or even if they can swing a deal for scott rolen for Damon or even a guy like Edwin Encarnacion.

Its going to be a fun Hot stove this year. I just hope that cashman dosent screw it up

wow Sam thanks for the special mention. I just wish more people ( like max sutton) will see the light and stop equating torii hunter with andruw. Andruw Jones has 368 carrer homers at age 30. He will definitely hit hiss 400th this year, probably in september. Do the math. do the math. At age 31, with 400 homers, 6 more years at an average of 40 per = 240. He'll hit 700 carrer homers. Add in his gold glove defense and you've got a first ballot hall-of-famer. Imagine it in Pinstripes.

Equating? not bad not bad at all mr vovab

The yankees desperatly need his right handed bat. The lineup looks like this now:
1)Damon-L, Little power
2)Jeter-R, no power
3)Abreu-L, little power
4)Posada- S, some power
5)Cano-L, best hitter on team
6)Matsui-L, good power
7)Giambi-L, Great power
8)Melky-S, little power
9)Betimit-S, basically is a lefty
with good power. Can't hit righty.

Granted that the lefties hit lefties pretty well- how are they gonna beat tough lefties like Bredard,Johan, Kazmir and sabathia?

First max nesser your site is on top of things and i am impressed.
As for hot stove baseball there is nothing like it. That Crede idea at 3rd is ok. i like it because he looks like a player girardi would love. Side point on third base i am still hoping the mets go after Arod and put wright at second. that would make things really interesting but i know its not happening.
Sam that trade for santana is great i think both teams should do it. Aside for being the best pitcher in baseball he is the only elite pitcher out there this year. Which is why the mets should get arod dont settle for a so so starter get arod and get a pitcher when Delgados money is freed up. Unless they can get Santana.

Is it me or everytime i see andrew jones he gained another 2 pounds. i think he has a contract with dunkin doughnuts. And he just looks like he doesnt care.Max Nesser, You brought up a good point that his worst year was equal to rowand and hunters best. But it doesnt scare you he did his worst on his walk year. to me Hunter has more of a yankee look to him i dont know if that makes sense but i think you might understand what i mean.

Oh and max i am sorry to here that Ms Pena that gerorgeos Latin girl is no longer with you. I didnt think you were a good match anyway. I think you should try to get back with Anita. you guys were great together.
Back to baseball yes Cordero is the right arm to go after. If by any chance Mo is a no show do you guys agree that jaba is the closer.

I am stuck with an ameican g now. It's terrible.

Unknown said...

I agree, Torii Hunter has yankee written all over him.

maxsutton said...

Max nesser you miss arod already huh. Dont worry George can always wke up and give him a huge contract. its really not impossible. They can always say those statements didnt come from george and he just wants him.

maxsutton said...

i didnt even have to convince you that fast hunter over jones for the yankees. And whats the new american girls name?

SAM I AM said...

No joba is strictly a starter

and yes anita is a good girl and she and max are a great couple. Ms pena was just all looks.

I understand what you meen by the yankee look but bottom line andrew is better, even an obese andrew is a better ball player.and again Cordero is a must

I won't disclose anymore of my personal life

by the way how oppisite is petter from a-rod?
Petite said he owes it to the yanks to pick up his option and if he doesn't he'll retire and won't cash in somewhere else.

SAM I AM said...

Andy is a gentelman and arod is a-dog

maxsutton said...

ok

maxsutton said...

i knew someone would say that joba has to be a starter i was waiting for. i am not saying you are crazy and i know you will be getting much more innings out of him if he starts. But think about this great pitchers are extremely hard to come by but a great closer is impossible to find. Mo is the only one in history. Every other guy blows it. Beleive me i know, the mets pay wagner all that money and he does exactly what benitez did. Look at hoffman always blows the big one.
Big time closers are huge for a team for a couple of reasons. when a team blows late leads it knocks them down physiclly and mentally.
The red sox have papple balls and that is a big reason for their success. other starters tried to close and it didnt work but joba has what it takes. Plus the yankees staff with the knew youth spurt can maybe afford it. ( for sure if they get johan)

Then again i do hear both sides.
Max nesser if you dont keep us up on your love life i will start making things about you.

SAM I AM said...

Max if Mo is back thats a moot point.

I wouldn't trade cano and wang for johan santana. I'd rather sign him next year and go with the kids this year. By the way, any team in baseball can be good in 2009. The free agent class is ridiculous and all-time-ish. Here are some guys:
Carl crawford
Brian Fuentes
Rafael Furcal
Jon Garland
Vlad Guerrero
Chipper jones
John Lackey
Bradge Lidge
Derek Lowe
Pedro Martinez
Mark Mulder
Joe Nathan
Jake Peavy
Brad Penny
Oliver Perez
Manny Ramirez
K-Rod
C.C Sabathia
Johan Santana
Richie Sexon
Ben Sheets
John Smoltz
Mark Tiexera
Jim Thome
Frank Thomas.

Save your money -it's gonna be wild next year!
John Smoltz

maxsutton said...

Ok you are right it probably is a moot point but i did bring up some very valid points

SAM I AM said...

That is probably the best free agent market of all time. even if half those guys got extensions this year its still wild

Unknown said...

any team who wants to be a playoff contender next year can. There are no excuses to the fans. I feel for the team who's gonna give Carlos silva, Kyle Lohse and Jeff Weaver 3 year deals for 33 million. Next year they'll wish they didn't I gaurantee that!

maxsutton said...

that is trully an incredible market. Arod is lucky he is free now and not next year this way he will really get top dollar. My feeling is the yankees and mets will be have a bidding war for texiera. peavy is the real way to go

maxsutton said...

I know its a yankee blog but the mets just picked up the option on Moises Alou. Something they had to do. When he is playing he is flat out a great hitter. they have to give him a break in the middle of the year so he is fresh for the final stretch of the season and hopefully the playoffs.

maxsutton said...

great pictures sam

alou would make a great dh

well heres the mets lineup:
reyes
castillo(resign)
wright
beltran
alou
delgado
milledge
catcher
pitcher

i still believe even if the mets resign castro and he is the starting catcher all the mets need is a good relief pitcher and they should be the favorites to com eout of the nl

I AGREE WITH MAX AT THIS RATE HE SHOULD REACH 700 AND THEN WHO THE HELL CARES ABOUT A-ROD AND HIM HITTING INTO 700. ASIDE FROM THE FACT THAT IT ALWAYS MEANS MORE WHEN YOU BREAK RECORDS IN PIN STRIPES. AS FOR LOWELL COMING TO THE YANKS...I DONT THINK SO HE JUST WON HIS SECOND RING WITH BOSTON AND THIS TIME HE WAS THE MVP OF THE SERIES. BUT THE ONLY THING I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IS FOR THE YANKS TO GO BACK TO THE WAY OF THE 90'S WHICH WAS USE THE YOUNG HOME GROWN GUYS AND NOT GO OUT AND GET THE GIAMBI'S AND THE A-ROD'S WHICH IF THEY WENT AND GOT JONES THAT WOULD BE JUST CONTINUING TO ADD TO THE ALREADY HIGH PAYROLL. ITS NOT THE EXPENSIVE PLAYERS THATS GUNNA BRING US ANOTHER TITLE ITS THE YOUNG AND EAGER WITH A LITTLE DIRECTION WHO IS GOING TO DO IT FOR US. WHICH IS ALSO WHY GIRARDI IS THE BEST MAN FOR THE JOB.

abie said...

max... i dont believe that andruw will get 700 in his career... his stock had declined especially when in a contract year he has the worst year of his career...

there is no doubt he will get paid becuz he has boras on his side..

if u want him in a yankee uniform that is sad..this might be worse then the damon signing and maybe even worse then signing pavano

let him go keep ur eyes on 09' free agents

dont make the mistake this year...

oh and comparing the mets and yankees lineup as they are now its very close...and the mets are the team in the "weaker" league
