The fact that Girardi is wearing number 27 makes me giddy. This number with out a doubt in my mind no matter what anybody says is to show the world he wants that highly covetted 27th title, And that he thinks hes going to bring the championship back where in belongs. I still can't believe girardi's in charge. Do you really think taht if it needs to be done he's gonna air out Jeter, Rivera, Petite, Posada, and Moose? I don't see him having these veteran superstars listening to him. I just don't. This is not Florida, wher no one on the team was even half his age. I just don't see it- but then again- you never know. Maybe he'll walk into that clubhouse and make believe he doesn't know the guys.

Max Nesser you bring up a good point but if you listen to his press conferance when he was announced as manager he said somthing key. He said every manager has to manage each team differently. I took that to mean that we wont be seeing him having heartataches on the bench. i am not saying he wont go wild once in a while but i dont think he will ever direct it straight at a veteran. Maybe one of the young guys. Sam your point was a good one. if they dont win this year and giambi walks i am sure he will take #25 back if he is still the manager.

(we all know how hard it is to get that last game won, alla 04)But in 2000 he was nothing short of dominant with a cy young season with a 20 and 3 record (btw 2 of those loses were to the devil rays late in the season(dont ask me why i remember that))than in the playoffs that year he pitched the most sensational game i have ever seen to date. with like a 15 strike out performance with 8 plus innings of shutout ball.then in the world series the game when he almost killed piazza with the bat what gets lost in that game is the Rocket was just flat out filthy and that definately sety the tone of the series(the mets were just scared)then in 2001 game 7 of the world series he outpitched schilling in a pitchers duel.If it werent for the meltdown in the 9th hes a hero(AGAIN)in 02 I honestly forgot wht he did in the playoffs (but im sure that abie is going to remind me)in 03 he pitched very good even in the post season. That was his first tenure as a yankI dont know where you get the impression that he has no gut I think your down right ignorant. For anything he probably was the best yankee pitcher in the best 30 25 years aside for pettite and maybe cohn when healthy. This year its not his fault hes 90 he gave it all he had and you got to admire that hes a great competitor And a great guy to have on your team.. All this B.S of not being a true yankee is a bunch of crap. Bottom line if he won 2 championships 1 he was solely responsible for Hes not only a true yankee hes a yankee legend.

max nesser the avi dwek thing is not tremendous till he prooves it. For now its tiny. Realize that what clemens did was a big part of why Torre isnt here anymore. If he can pitch half decent in the playoffs and not waste huges arm maybe they couldve gotten out of the first round and torre would still be here. but he really was terrible.
It would have been hard ( like AVI DWEKS nipples in the cold) to fire him if they won the first round of the playoffs.

Its a good thing torre is gone. now i dont have to suffer through a game seeing my manager sleeping in the dugout(hows he going to keep up with west coast time now He will probably bring a pillow to the dugout)Maybe now our bulpen will be fresh and some body will bunt when your supposed to or maybe a hit and run every now and then. when girardi managed the marlins he had a rep forleaving in his starting pitchers in too long... however he did get the most out of dontrelle...but reports were that dontrellle didnt like being left out there..
