Hey Steinbrenners, JUST GET JOHAN ALREADY

This post is directly from http://www.riveraveblues.com/

After reading it I was drooling at the idea of Johan a Yankee all over again.

If IPK isn't needed in the package Just pull the trigger and get the deal done already..

In the words of the great AVI DWEK " I'll drive them to Minnesota myself. Where can I pick them up?"

Johan Santana’s great 2007Posted by: Ben K. in Pitching
Over at the Lo HUD Yankees Blog, Peter Abraham this evening penned a piece with which we here at RAB clearly agree. Abraham wrote that the Yankees should just say no to Johan Santana.
Of course, we believe that. Hell, we’re even selling t-shirts for just that purpose.
But in the course of his argument, Abraham strays a bit from his analysis. He writes: “Santana could be great again. But he was 15-13, 3.33 last season and will be 29 in March.”
Now, as far as my reading of this statement goes, Abraham’s use of the “but” indicates that Johan Santana was not great in 2007 because he won only two more games than he lost. It’s a classic sportswriters mistake. Johan Santana didn’t win more games because the Twins’ offense was terrible. They were 25Th in runs scored and 27Th in team OPS.
Despite this poor offensive production, Johan Santana still managed to win 15 games. But that’s neither here nor there. Let’s look at some of the other stats the once-great Johan Santana put up. His 3.33 ERA was 7Th overall in the American League, trailing John Lackey by 0.31 runs. His 1.07 WHIP was tops in the AL, and his 235 strike outs trailed Scott Kazmir by just four. His strike out-to-walk ratio was 4.52, good for fourth in the American League.
In a word, Johan Santana in 2007 was great.
Now, there are plenty of reasons — starting with Phil Hughes and ending with the luxury tax issues — for the Yankees to avoid a trade of Johan Santana right now. And if his agent were smart, he’d tell Santana to stay healthy for another year and cash in during a full-fledged bidding war in 2008. But we shouldn't start pretending that Johan Santana wasn’t great in 2007 because of a poor won-loss record. Make no mistake about it: Johan Santana is one of the top pitchers in the American League. Stick him on the Yankees or the Red Sox, and his 2007 line would probably feature 20+ wins and another Cy Young Award. Greatness, indeed.

THE 6 MAN ROTATION

All I'm hearing these days is that the Yankees are worried about keeping all of there young arms around the 180 inning mark, and they are worried about burning their arms because they are just still a bunch of kids. You know what? I agree with this mindset. They should keep them fresh and let them develop properly. As a matter a fact Buster Olnley just reported that The Yanx are prepared to start Joba out of the pen this year. With the "JOBA RULES " still in effect. Just for the sole reason of keeping his innings down.
I was thinking about it yesterday, If the Yankees want to keep there young arms fresh and still have them be effective and at the same time keep the bullpen fresh and effective there is a logical answer which would be a controversial one at best. Why don't they try a 6 man rotation?

Which would look something like this.

Wang:

Pettite:

Joba:

Hughes:

Kennedy:

Mussina:

Before you guys jump down my throat think about it. All the youngsters would get around 30 starts instead of 35 which would limit there innings at least 25 to 30 innings less.

If the starters are more fresh they go deeper into games then the bullpen stays fresh and more effective and we don't have to worry about a very tired bullpen by the all star break.
All I'm saying is I think it should be in the thought process and shouldn't be disregarded just because its an unpopular thing to do.
Although I know its never going to happen . Its worth discussing.

SAM I AM'S VIEW ON ROIDS

Now that the smoke is beginning to clear and things are simmering down from the "Mitchell Report" .

I would like to give you my views on the whole steroid and performance enhancing drug scandal.

In my honest opinion i think at least 80 percent of the league is on something was on something and always will be on something. as long as theres a way to gain an advantage an advantage will be gained. legal or not but its sad to say but all they want is that one big contract then they will be satisfied.I'm not saying that I wouldn't do it myself if I were in there shoes. Think about it would you???be honest with yourself.

The players are always going to be 3 steps ahead of the league theres always going to be something that the league wont know about for example the league is testing for roids so the players were on HGH and guess what the league is still having trouble detecting it.its a never ending revolving door. There isn't a player in the entire MLB that i don't suspect . from Derek Jeter to Jose Reyes. And to tell you the truth I'm not so against it. It should be legalized. It should be USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. It doesn't affect the fans. all it does is make the game more enjoyable to watch. If all the players are better than the game is better. but thats just my opinion (not a very popular one )

I'm going to start up the hot stove reports soon i promise but first i would like to discuss the topic.

THE MITCHELL REPORT

This is more or less the list from the Mitchell report. Some names are no surprises and some names are irrelevant. But there are some really crazy out of the blue names that i would have never known. (I highlighted the standouts in red,)
Remember that the list is not yet complete. There probably will be some more high profile names still to come. As the new names are released I will update the list.
I want everybody to keep in mind that just because a name is on the list it doesn't mean that your guilty. A player is only guilty if there is concrete evidence against him. The repercussions of the list are still to be determined.

this is a link to the entire report http://files.mlb.com/mitchrpt.pdf its a good read if you have the patience. I would love to hear your thoughts on the list.

YANKEES ARE IN NEED OF ONE GIANT STARTER.

About a week ago there were rumors revolving around Matsui and the San Francisco Giants. At the time i made nothing of it because i kept on hearing the name Noah Lowry but now Im hearing that there are other players available .What im about to post is all speculation so dont get your hopes up.
Brian Sabean is desperatley looking for a middle of the order bat plus a major league ready pitcher that will not be making anything that has tallent. The blue jays offered Rios straight up for lincecum but the giants turned it down becauase they arent willing to part with timmy. but they said nothing about matty, Sabean said if this trade dosent get done by yesterday then its over.if the yanx Give them Matsui , Duncan , Bettimite and Kennedy The giants would recieve 3 bats that can instantly make there lineup respectabe to say the least. 2 of which are making the league minimum and one in matsui who would garuntee a plus 290 avg plus 25 hr plus 100 rbi year .Hes been doing this in the AL east. immagine in the NL West ? And Kennedy which would be a pefect fit and would be there number 3 starter for years to come. The yanx would want Cain in this package and wouldent take anything less meaning Noah lowry isnt an option (hes mediocre at best. This would be much better than any other kind of deal the yanx were thinking of (johan, Bedard, Haren)cause over there you lose 2 of the big 3 and here you only lose 1 of them and he happens to be the worst of them.

I Just hope that the yanx dont do this deal for Jonathan Sanches.(hes a young lefty that has talent but hes put up horific numbers in his first 2 seasons as a giant.personally I think the giants are way to high on this guy and in my opinion the only reason they are is just to boost his name for trade bate. But you never know with these lefties sometimes they tend to develope a little slower due to location problems.)But i wouldent take him in a package that includes kennedy its simply too much. But i would take him for Matsui .It goes without saying, but i Dont want Noah Lowry for free. He is so overrated its a joke.

We all know how much Brian Sabean Likes to pull the trigger. lets hope he gives us a late chanuka gift. Im praying Imagine a young stud flamethrower for an aging outfielder who we need to clear up space anyway, A couple of young decent players and a pitching prospect??? I WISH....lets all pray and hope this happens.

The Hawk has landed in the Bronx

Reports are stating that the Yankees and Latroy HAWKins have agreed on a 1 year deal said to be worth $3.75 mill.

This was posted by my good friend Dan over at PINSTRIPES PA ( I couldn't have said it any better myself)

Hawkins spent his 2006 season with the Baltimore Orioles....in the American League East. While pitching at Camden Yards Hawkins posted a 2.81 ERA in 32 innings with a 2.62 K/BB ratio. Not bad for pitching in a hitters park. Against the Red Sox that year, Hawkins threw 8.2 innings with a 2.08 ERA and a 1.25 K/BB ratio. The Yankees destroyed him, but he managed to post a 1.08 ERA against the Devil Rays in 8.1 innings. During the first half of the 2007 season, Vizcaino posted a 5.02 ERA in 43 IPDuring the first half of the 2007 season, Hawkins posted a 4.07 ERA in 24 IPDuring the first half of the 2007 season, Vizcaino posted a 3.32 ERA in 32 IPDuring the second half of the 2007 season, Hawkins posted a 2.90 ERA in 31 IPHawkins had one particularly bad April last season, but if you remove that month from his 2007 season, he would have gone 2-2 and posted a 2.70 ERA in 41.1 IP with a 2.2 K/BB ratio. The point is-Hawkins is a decent replacement for Vizcaino; especially considering that the Yankees will get a draft pick for loosing the Viz and will not be hindered by signing a 34-year-old reliever to a 3-year contract. Also, if Hawkins does bad, the Yankees can just eat his contract. If he does good, they have another bullpen option on their hands, or they can trade him for a prospect come July. Fans, understand this deal is nowhere near as bad as people are making it out to be. Hawk is a great clubhouse guy, and if Girardi uses him correctly, he'll be a solid reliever for the Yanks in 2008.

Note: Max n is totally against this signing, He is saying that farnsworthless will be having a better year. (hes nuts) Max your wrong on this one(if hes used correctly(i hope girardi is a better bullpen manager than torre)than he will be solid.)

If he ends up sucking it wouldn't be the end of the world cause we have other pretty good options to work with. Bruney, Edwar,Britton, All im saying is that its worth rolling the dice on the Hawk for a couple of reasons. #1 if hes good we got ourself a new 8th inning guy for a bargain but if hes no good hes expendable #2 hes got a cool nickname "THE HAWK"

P.S. Pavano was signed to a 1 year minor league deal by the yanx after cutting him so they can collect insurance. Pavano logged back to back years of plus 200 innings pitched and the red sox and tigers were among several other teams in the running for him. so you cant really get that mad that they signed him at the time but After all said and done it probably was the worst signing in professional sports history. I challenge all of you to find a worse one.Pavanos numbers as a Yankee was a utter joke. I can remember maybe one or two really good games that he pitched but definateley not worth 40 million. Here are his numbers.http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=3784

Cashman should be institutionalized

This excerpt is from One of my favorite websites www.riveraveblues.com

according to Madden, the Yanks walked away from a 4-for-1 deal that would have netted them Santana: Phil Hughes, Melky Cabrera, Jeff Marquez and Mitch Hilligoss to the Twins for the lefty. But it wasn’t the talent on which the Yanks were overly concerned. While Cashman was loathe to trade Hughes, the GM was more concerned with the money.
The Yankees concerned with money? What’s this world coming to? Well, here’s Madden’s take:
Once Andy Pettitte announced he was returning to the fold for $16 million, it meant the Yankees had committed $408.4 million this winter to retain six players. The acquisition of Santana would have meant tacking on another $125 million to that figure, and Cashman, who never wanted to do the Santana deal in the first place, blanched at the prospect of adding another $20 million to a payroll that was already on the cusp of $200 million, again. In this respect, the timing of Pettitte’s decision to return - while initially seen as giving the Yankees additional leverage in their dealings with the Twins on Santana - actually gave Cashman the “out” he needed…
Bad as it was to be sacrificing Hughes, Cashman told the Yankee high command, look at what the payroll was going to be now if they added $20 million-$21 million for Santana on top of the $16 million they just tacked on with Pettitte…In the end, Cashman prevailed, convincing Hank and Hal Steinbrenner of something he could never have done with their dad - that trading for Johan Santana was simply too expensive for the New York Yankees.

This is My take on the subject

Is cash crazy??? if the players stated were in fact true, why the hell didn't cash pull the trigger. melky is mediocre at best (offensively) Hughes has a high ceiling but you just never know with guys like him (he already had an injury plagued first season. and those other 2 guys are just some pretty decent prospects(i think)and your getting in return the bast damn lefty period. I don't want to here that all of the sudden hes money conscience after getting ripped off on the arod deal and over paying for just about everybody he ever to sign in his tenure as GM. this just makes no sense at all on so many levels. F*$k Brian cashman (I'm sorry to be so harsh but that's the way I feel)

If Johan go's to Beantown....

Reports are stating that the Johan talks have died down in a hurry after the Yankees refused to include Kennedy in the Hughes package.Steinbrener seems a bit fed up with the twins for being so unreasonable.

The Red Sox are now the front runners to land the lefty ace because they are suddenly willing to part with ellesbury. As a Yankee fan all I have to say is that if Johan gos to the red sox then MLB should just hand the Red Sox their 2008 along with their 2007 rings and spare us all from watching the season.

Yankee fans that are reluctant to give up on our young studs , your right but you have to realize that if Johan is playing for the enemy then we are royally screwed.

DONT SWEAT IT, WE GOT PETTITTE!!!!!!

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!
According to Houston chronicle Andy pettitte will be pitching for the BOMBERS in the 08 season.

Report: Pettitte to re-sign with Yankees
Andy Pettitte will re-sign with the Yankees, according to the Houston Chronicle.
The newspaper reports that he's "told family members and teammates that he has decided to return to the Yankees in 2008." Unsure of his plans last month, Pettitte declined his $16 million option for 2008 and the Yankees told him that they'd have a spot for him until February if he decided to return. Pettitte's agent is said to have informed the Yankees of the decision to re-sign and the two sides are expected to agree upon the same one-year, $16 million deal that Pettitte was in line to make before declining his option. While Pettitte's return gives a big boost to the Yankees' 2008 rotation, it's unlikely that it'll have any impact on the team's pursuit of Johan Santana. Dec. 3 - 9:11 am etSource: Houston Chronicle

This is tremendous news. Regardless of the fact if they do or do not get Johan , Haren Or Bedard The Yankees rotation will have the presence of a grizzled veteran. Somebody Who's been through it all. The good the bad and the ugly. Hes won us some of the biggest games in Yankees post season history. This is a great day in Yankee land. Andy is Dandy.

These are possible Rotations Based on the fact that they only trade Hughes out of the big 3

#1 (If they get Johan) Santana, Wang, Pettitte, Joba, Kennedy/Mussina

#2 (If they get Haren instead of Johan.) Haren, Pettitte, Wang, Joba, Kennedy/moose

#3 (if they get Bedard Etc...) Bedard, Wang, Pettitte, joba, Kennedy/moose

#4 (if they trade all of the big 3 including Alan Horn and Austin jackson along with Tobata) Johan, Haren, Bedard, Wang, Moose...wow (its never going to happen but im still drooling at the idea of having 800 strike outs in the rotation.)

If they don't make any trades at all. Or any other moves.(extremely Doubtful)

Wang, Pettitte, Joba, Hughes, Kennedy/moose Its not so bad but it definitely needs help. Without Andy we would be in shambles.

Damon to play Center???? I dont think so

Recently the Yankees have stated in a press release that if the twins accept the trade which includes Melky that they would move Damon back to center field.

Are they crazy??
Damon is finished.
They must package Damon for a decent reliever. Then acquire a bonofied center fielder(Anybody better than Ryan Church....hahaha mets fans you should know I'm still laughing at Minaya's practical joke that he played on the organization.. he probably lost a bet or something.)

P.S. I would like to thank all of you for reaching over the century mark on my last blog. (mainly Abie)

Johan Santana opening day starter for the new york yankees? Im getting the chills thinking about it.

NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Yankees and Minnesota Twins have started trade talks involving Johan Santana.
Yankees senior vice president Hank Steinbrenner said Monday that discussions are ongoing but it was too early to tell whether they would lead to a deal. He did not detail how far talks had progressed.
"I don't want to get into that at this point, as far as what they want, what we're willing to give and all that," he said. "It's preliminary right now."
Santana is eligible for free agency after the 2008 season, and the
Twins have been trying to sign the two-time AL Cy Young Award winner to an extension.
Asked whether the
Twins had said they would consider a trade, Steinbrenner responded: "Oh, yeah."
The
New York Mets, Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers also are thought to be interested in Santana, who is far better than any of the starting pitchers available on the free-agent market.
Santana's agent, Peter Greenberg, has not spoken publicly about his talks with the
Twins, who last week lost free-agent center fielder Torii Hunter to the Los Angeles Angels.
Santana, a left-hander who turns 29 in March, has a 93-44 record with a 3.22 ERA in eight major league seasons and is owed $13.25 million next year. Minnesota would want top prospects in any deal and while Steinbrenner previously said he wouldn't trade some of the
Yankees' top young pitchers for third baseman Miguel Cabrera, he didn't rule out a deal for a pitcher.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said he has received repeated inquiries from teams about Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain and Ian Kennedy.
Santana has a no-trade provision in his contract, and a team acquiring him likely would want to discuss an extension. That means if the teams agreed to a trade, there probably would be a 72-hour window to work out a new contract.
After reaching agreements to re-sign
Alex Rodriguez, Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada and Jose Molina - deals that are awaiting completion - Steinbrenner said the Yankees have turned their attention to relievers. Cashman has said the team hopes to keep Luis Vizcaino.
"Obviously, I think the big thing for us now is shoring up the bullpen all that we can," Steinbrenner said. "Brian is looking into several different things."
Steinbrenner said Rodriguez likely will take a physical this week.

I'm glad the Yankees finally have there priorities strait. Pitching is the name of the game. If you get Johan without giving up joba or Hughes, its a deal that shouldn't even be an afterthought. just pull the trigger. Then if you can do something about Miguel Cabrera that would involve Hughes i do that as well. This is the first time in a while that the Yankees are targeting a top flight starter that didn't reach his prime yet.no more randy j or rocket kind of guys who once were in there prime. this is a good thing.

Oh one thing i don't get is if the yanx say there focusing on the bullpen then where were they on linebrink??

ATTENTION BRIAN CASHMAN THIS IS MY HOLIDAY WISH LIST

I know that half of the things I'm about to ask for probably will not happen, either cause Cashman sometimes is just flat out stupid or because its just not practical but here goes.

#1, Bring back Andy. No matter what it takes. If you have to spend the holidays with him (Theo style)then go for it.

#2, Bring back Louis Vizciano even if its going to cost more than it should.(we all know how hard it is to find a decent reliever.)

#3, sign a top flight reliever. I would have loved Linebrink or Cordero but i will settle for Dotel.

#4, Swing a blockbuster trade. Either something like Kennedy, Melky and Tobbata/Jackson for Peavy and Adrian Gonzalez.

or the current trade that everybody is buzzing about for Johan.(if the Yanx add a Cy young type stud pitcher to the rotation it can do wonders to the team.

#5, Sign a big bat center fielder. I want Andrew Jones.(as i already stated that on andrews worst year he still put up comparable stats to Rowand and Hunter who had career years.)

now that hunter is off the market. If the yanks cant get Jones i will settle for Rowand.

I think that covers every aspect of the team. If all this goes down, then we are improving our starting rotation our bullpen and our everyday line up and our bench becomes outstanding.

Every one of these moves are all feasible. none of them are out of the realm of possibility.

Please Brian...I've been a good boy this year.

I'M BAAAAACK

First of all i would like to ask all of my fellow blogger'so accept my apology for my absence of my own blog.
Even though I did get married on Monday night,I have no excuse for being missing in action during these crucial days of the baseball off season.
I hope you can accept my apology . if you don't then screw you....

WOW what a couple of days. between Mariano accepting and all those trades and signings that went down i feel like i have been away for a lot longer than a few days.
Any way i want to wish a Shelly Duncan get well soon.after being hospitalized by some sort of blood clot..
Welcome back CJ Henry.after being traded for Abreu he was just awful for Philly but the Yanx brought him back.(o the Yanx practically traded Matt smith for bobby abreu .i think it was a good trade)
all we need is Andy to come back and we will be almost there. just maybe a little bit of Johan and a little bit of Andrew and we would be almost set.
stay tuned for my next post which would be my holiday wish list for Brian cashman

Thats "Mo" like it

Mariano Rivera's friend has told the Bergen record that Mo has agreed to the 3 year 45 million dollar offer that was offered to him last week.

It was insulting that he didn't jump on this deal as soon as the contract was in front of his face.

I mean come on...its not like they low balled him. They offered the richest contract a relief pitcher has ever seen.(dollars per year)I guess his ego took a hit when he saw the yanks took more priority in signing Posada. Mariano just couldn't face that fact.
people may think that once he realized that nobody was even going to come close to even try to begin to match that astronomical contract,he decided to reluctantly take the offer.
I disagree, I feel that Mariano in the heat of the moment was a little embarrassed so he acted the way he did.But like all rational people do,before making a stupid decision (like going to the dodgers)he realized that new york is the only place he can call home.Hes no idiot he knows what he means in yankee history. He knows he means as much to this organization as mantle and marris etc...what a differance it would have been if he went to a different club than staying with what made him what he is.
I'm glad mo is back and all i got to say is

THAT'S MO LIKE IT

A-mess

Alex Rodriguez and the New York Yankees have agreed to the outline of a $275 million, 10-year contract, a deal that potentially would allow him to earn millions more if he sets the career home run record. The amount of the guaranteed money was revealed by a person familiar with the negotiations who spoke Thursday on condition of anonymity because the deal hasn't been finalized. A-Rod met Wednesday in Tampa, Fla., with the Steinbrenner brothers but the parameters of the deal were set in place last weekend.
"Yeah, I could say that," Yankees senior vice president Hank Steinbrenner said. "The meeting was a final get-together. He wanted to make sure myself and my brother knew that he was sincere and serious."
The Yankees still must draft the agreement with Rodriguez's agent, Scott Boras.
(source)

I cant believe this.

The steinbrenner brothers within the first 2 months of running the organization not only did they make fools out of themselves their making the Yankees look like a classless team.

Once you say something you have to stick with it.If you say your don't want

A-Hole back if he opts out.then mean what you say.

we cant have this team be run by a bunch of monkeys spending daddy's money.

I know that in the regular season I'm going to be tempted to route for Alex cause hes probably going to win us some games. But we all know whats going to happen once October hits...lets see if we could win without this bum because we all know that we can rely on his sub .100 BA in the playoffs.

It doesn't make sense to route against somebody on your team cause your not actually routing for an individual your routing for your TEAM and by routing against your routing against your team and that doesn't make much sense. so i guess what i will do is route for the Yankees and not for Alex. if he ends up helping the Yankees that's great if not then i will boo the hell out of him.

Derek Jeter the tax cheater

New York state tax officials want Derek Jeter to pay hundreds of thousands -- possibly even millions of dollars -- in back taxes and interest for the years 2001 to 2003, when he claimed Florida residency despite spending the bulk of his time in New York.
An administrative judge's ruling shows that Jeter has claimed Florida residency since 1994. New York state isn't going back that far, but it does want it's cut from Jeter's check from after be bought a $13 million apartment in Manhattan. Jeter made $34 million in salary from 2001 through 2003 and likely millions more in endorsements.

FOXNews.com

Unless there is some kind of mix up, Derek jeter did a big no no . never screw with the government. I know this whole story doesn't sound like something the captain would do but i guess hes not as much of a saint as everybody makes him out to be. First the whole herpes thing now hes screwing around with taxes.Maybe that's why he sucked this year in the post season,he was probably thinking about the extra $$ he made and how hes going to spend it on his next super model girlfriend. Jete I'm just messing with you and i love you just keep it clean

If this happens Im going to be sick

Alex Rodriguez-3B- Yankees
Nov. 14 - 4:25 pm et
Alex Rodriguez confirmed on his website that he's hopeful of remaining with the Yankees.
"After spending time with (wife) Cynthia and my family over these last few weeks, it became clear to me that I needed to make an attempt to engage the Yankees regarding my future with the organization," A-Rod says in a statement. "Prior to entering into serious negotiations with other clubs, I wanted the opportunity to share my thoughts directly with Yankees' ownership. We know there are other opportunities for us, but Cynthia and I have a foundation with the club that has brought us comfort, stability and happiness. As a result, I reached out to the Yankees through mutual friends and conveyed that message. ... During these healthy discussions, both sides were able to share honest feelings and hopes with one another, and we expect to continue this dialogue with the Yankees over the next few days." So, A-Rod wants this and all indications are that the Yankees do as well. This might be wrapped up by the end of the week.
Source: ARod.com

If this happens I'm going to be sick. I officially burned bridges with arod. if he comes back i will not route for him.I will not feel bad for him. If he helps the organization the team that would be great but until he wins us a title Arod is a dog in my books

Lowell is NOT the answer

According to RotoWorld the Yankees are showing interest in free agent 3rd baseman Mike Lowell.I hope the only reason they are expressing interest is just to drive up the price for the red socks. If you look at this guys numbers before he came to Boston, his last couple of years on Florida , He was a washed up has been. If you look at his numbers this season outside fenway his numbers were just barley pedestrian. His swing and his power are tailor made for fenway. In Yankee stadium most of his Green Monster shots are caught. This is not the answer. The yanx can do allot better.

MO & PO PLEASE DONT GO

Reports are stating that Jorge Posada and Mariano Rivera will not be signed by the deadline. I think this has disaster written all over it. At all costs The Yankees must Retain these guys. they are the glue that keeps this team going. there is nothing more important than a world class closer and a catcher that just so happens to be the most productive catcher in the league for the last decade. We must bring these guys back Evan if it means giving them an extra year . I could picture it now Posada in a mets uniform and Mariano in a dodger uniform. uccchhhh. I'm repulsed thinking about it. If cash lets any of these guys walk he MUST be fired.

Instant Replay?

Recently the general managers voted 25 to 5 in favor of instant replay.Personally I hate the idea of a computer determining the outcome of a baseball game not only does it tarnish the sacred game of baseball .In my and every other Yankee fans opinion it hurts the Yankees tremendously. Whenever the Yankees won in the late ninety's etc.. in almost every series they won they received a little help from miss calls from the umpires. Call it luck call it mystique call it help from the baseball g-ds.Call what you want but whenever the Yankees won something along those lines happened. If Major League Baseball incorporates instant replay it removes that element of the game. And in some ways it modernizes baseball in a tacky sort of way. I just cant put my finger on it but it rubs me the wrong way.

I'm sure all the mets fans will be pro it and my fellow Yankee fans will be for it but i could be wrong.

THE CRUSHIN RUSSIAN

Kevin Kouzmanoff

The Padres have a third base prospect by the name of Chase Headley who may make Kevin Kouzmanoff a trading chip this off-season. If im the yankees i desperatley pursue him.
Would the Padres be interested in a package of Alan Horne, Kyle Farnsworth, Brett Gardner and a ton of cash (to pay for Farnsworth) in exchange for Kouzmanoff?
Maybe, or, maybe not? But, if the Yankees proposed a deal like that the Padres wouldnt see it as an insult - it would be a way to get negotiations going
Kevin Kouzmanoff will be turning 26-years old. He bats right and has pop. I understand that his defense at third is not great - but, he's not terrible either. The Yankees could do a lot worse at the hot corner next year than Kouzmanoff.
Maybe, instead of Alan Horne, Kyle Farnsworth, Brett Gardner and cash, it would cost the Yankees Tyler Clippard, Kyle Farnsworth, Josue Calzado, and cash for Kouzmanoff? If I'm the Yankees, I would have to consider that one too.
Heck, I'd even throw in Kei Igawa for free!
But, I'm not the G.M. of the team. It's up to Brian Cashman to try and work out these types of deals. The question is: Will he?
If im the yanks and im not getting Cabrera or Beltre Then I Definatley pursue this.

Were the yankees sleeping?

Phillies acquire Lidge in five-player trade
Phillies acquire RHP Brad Lidge and infielder Eric Bruntlett from the Astros for outfielder Michael Bourn, RHP Geoff Geary and third baseman Mike Costanzo.
We're not at all impressed with Ed Wade's first move as Houston's GM. Bourn could have a long career as a fair regular, but he's basically another Willy Taveras for the Astros. If Lidge's arrival in Philadelphia results in Brett Myers' return to the rotation, this could be a big winner for Pat Gillick. Geary is an average middle reliever and Costanzo's a long shot to have a career, so this basically boils down to Lidge for Bourn. Lidge is only under control for one more year, so it's not a huge slam dunk. Still, turning Myers back into a starter gives the Phillies a bigger rotation upgrade than they possibly could have picked up in free agency. Nov. 7 - 10:56 pm et

If Brad lidge was available for a deal that involved a 4th OF a middle of the line reliever and and a marginal prospect. Why the hell didnt the yankees make a push for him? This is an area where they need to improve and lidge would have turned the yankee bulpen to a dominant one.

I'll tell you one thing At least the mets get screwed.
